Labor & Employment Partner Alison Alpert Named a Woman of Influence

SD Metro Magazine Recognizes San Diego Women for their Professional Achievements

Best Best & Krieger LLP Partner Alison Alpert is at the frontlines helping California public agencies navigate COVID-19’s impact on employees and the landslide of new regulations aimed at protecting workers. It’s breakthrough work like this, in addition to her years of helping public employers comply with the complexities of state and federal workplace and labor laws, that earned Alpert a place on SD Metro magazine’s 2020 Women of Influence list.
With the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act and a slew of new California legislation, public employers — many of whom employ essential workers — rely on Alpert’s knowledgeable guidance to ensure they make decisions that take into account workers’ physical and mental health.
With the passage of Assembly Bill 5 last year impacting how employers classify gig-economy workers and independent contractors, Alpert advises agencies on compliance with the new law.
Alpert, the former leader of BB&K’s Labor & Employment practice group, works with a number of cities and special districts, including San Diego County, the City of Santee, Helix Water District, Padre Dam Municipal Water District and Sweetwater Authority.
Alpert serves on the Toby Wells YMCA’s Board of Directors, which provides support and services to military families and at-risk groups in several local San Diego communities.
