Lisa represents both public and private employers in a wide range of employment and wage and hour matters.
She has years of experience working in-house as a human resources professional.
Alissa also serves on the Board of the Thurgood Marshall Bar Association as co-chair for both the Scholarship and Pre-Law/Law Student committees.
Alissa (Lisa) Hurns is an associate in Best Best & Krieger LLP’s Labor & Employment practice group. She represents both public and private employers in lawsuits and pre-litigation employment matters.
Before becoming an attorney, Lisa worked as a human resources professional for 20 years, including as vice president of Human Resources for an animal health care company. Her human resources experience spans across various industries including, telecommunications, security, network production, animal health care and manufacturing. She supported, managed and led human resources functions, including payroll and benefits, for private employers with workforces ranging from 40 to 1,200 employees nationwide and internationally.
Lisa represents employers in lawsuits or in administrative hearings involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, unpaid wages and breach of contract claims. She has extensive experience handling all phases of litigation leading up to trial, including negotiating favorable settlements on behalf of her clients. She is admitted to the U.S. District for the Central District of California.

Lisa has been a board member for the Thurgood Marshall Bar Association based in Orange County since 2019, supporting the organization’s initiatives to provide resources and support to law students and pre-law students. Lisa also continues to actively support her law school in their recruitment activities and in supporting various student organizations.
